What if you could get red carpet treatment for the rest of your life? What if every time you showed up somewhere people would treat you like a respected celebrity? At restaurants they would give you the best seat in the house and someone else would pick up the tab. At big events other people would park your cars and give you front row seats. You daily would receive invites to important events, etc.... Is that even possible.
The scripture says do unto others as we would have them do unto ourselves. (Matt 7:12) Have we treated anyone we know that way? Always placing them first, treating them with respect, doing endless good deeds for them, helping them, advancing them, etc... Upon applying God's law of love to our lives we will begin to see doors open and opportunities flourish. How much are you willing to place people first to test God's law to see if it works?
Two things to keep in mind. First we may have done endless good things for our children, we may have done them many favors, helped them out of many spots, and somehow they turn out to hate us and show us very little respect. We must then ask an honest question or two? Did we follow the path of Deuteronomy six with them? It is easy to be a Christian ourselves and forget to train up our children in the same ways we were brought up.
Secondly, we have to remember that some things come on God's timetable, some things come in later season. Maybe the seeds, prayers, good deeds, and much of what we have labored over has not yet come to full bloom. Should we quit early, no. God speaks of rewards in this life and in the next, and the reality is we shall not know the fullness of our rewards until we get to the other side. Some small deeds we do for strangers may have impacted their lives more than the large deeds we do for those that know us. There is also the fact that some of the seeds we plant may not even bloom until after we die, is it worth it if they come up? In the Kingdom to come, our respect will be exactly as it should be, as long as we respect our eternal King today by loving all his children.
