Was He Shooting At You Or Me

Our culture has become so blinded by naturalism that it can't see. Scientist are telling us that everything is physical, there is no God, that there is no ultimate meaning etc... Really? Let us talk just about symbolism for a minute. If someone tried to join a gang would they not be required to get a tatoo, or a marking, or be able to throw some sort of sign with their hands? The actual symbol that each gang chooses to use matters very little, what does matter is what does the symbol mean? Which gang are you with, which group are you loyal to, who will you commit crime and die for?

So the question is, if a man shoots at a uniformed police officer is that all he is really shooting at? No, he is also shooting at authority, he is shooting at the state, he is shooting at the voters who pay taxes to employ authority, he is in essence shooting at you. Are you okay with that? A study of Romans 13:1-4 should give us some very real guidance on how to deal with such issues.

If the authorities do not bear the sword in vain, then they should use it in a right an necessary way. Our authorities should be able to use their authority with authority; but the house of cards is falling. Since our governmental system is straying from its foundation it does not truly believe that the police have more authority than the people. The people are being given greater and greater authority while police have less and less. This is culminating in criminals having more rights than the police. Evil men take advantage by force, by fear, by intimidation, what happens when they have nothing to fear from the police? What happens is that more and more criminals make the news for shooting and killing police officers.

Do we think it will not progress further? In some countries the criminals ride around in bullet proof vests with automatic weapons. If four of these guys get out of a vehicle, no single police officer would stand a chance. Who then runs your streets, your government, your world, you homes? How do we stop the madness? By getting back to a spiritual foundation, one that endorses the use of power and authority in right fashion because God says so.
