Gorsuch

Until this week most of the United States probably has never heard of Neil Gorsuch; he is now being nominated as a Supreme Court Justice for America. One thing that the media outlets are making sure is that you know he believes in “originalism.” Basically that he believes that the constitution should be interpreted the way the founding fathers meant it to be understood.

Why does the media care about “orginalism” because the founding fathers were mostly Christian men or religious: thus they wrote a Christianized constitution. If Gorsuch gets into position then he will interpret law the way our Christian forefathers wanted it to be interpreted, bad news for those who wish to pervert it for their wicked intentions. II Peter 3:16 tells us that some will twist the very Words of God, should we be surprised if they twist our Constitution?

Proverbs chapter 8, yes the entire chapter, encourages us to seek out wisdom. To know that the foundations of reality were built upon its strength. The more educated and wise we become about human beings, history, religion, media, and our own Constitution and history, the more clearly we will see the blessings that God has given to us and how we must fight for our countries rich culture. To whom much has given much will be required (Luke 12:48) should ring heavily in our consciences as we hear about sinful practices in our culture. We have been given the right to participate in our government and its affairs, and we will be held responsible for how our government then acts. If we get involved we will make a difference. Jesus referred to us as salt, which we all know is a preserving mineral; it keeps things from rotting. When Christians become engaged actively with the culture around them the influence is positive; our actions prevent the deterioration of society.

Know fully that you can and do make a difference, but without wisdom we are very dull knives. It then becomes our responsibility to love God with all our minds, seeking out truth, seeking out facts, seeking out the counsel of the ancients, praying for guidance in our hearts. Then we can proceed confidently and can be sure we are promoting the right causes.
