300 Shootings

In the last 30 days there have been more than 300 shootings in the Chicago area, this continues the 2016 trend where over 4,000 people were shot last year. Violence has become a way of life for some of this city where someone gets shot every 2 hours and 22 minutes. What is it that has spurred on such radical behavior, what could be causing such chaos? The answer is very simple, a great lack of Christianity.

Take away fathers from homes, allow violent video games, listen to gangsta music which glamorizes mayhem, make movies about criminals being heroes, take discipline from schools, remove morals from any government facility, stop punishing crime severely, worship the false god money, take away traditional masculinity, make work look evil, feed those who don't work even though they could, stop supporting churches in the area, stop spreading the gospel message, etc... add all of these anti-biblical values together and you have a formula for disaster. Sounds like II Timothy 3:1-4.

Is there any hope for Chicago, absolutely. Ninevah was about to be wiped off the map and God sent Jonah to them to tell them to amend their ways. God was holding out an offer to them that if they would repent then He would repent of the disaster He was about to bring upon them. God offered the same grace before the flood sending Noah out to preach to the people of the world for 120 years. This also can be seen as God sent numerous prophets to the children of Israel asking them, begging them, imploring them, repent, repent, repent. God does get angry, He does judge, but He is slow to anger giving us plenty of time to repent for our wicked deeds.

But here is the twist, is it the shooters who are wicked? That is where we wish to place the blame because they are killing people, but are we as Christians any less wicked when God tells us to spread the gospel message to save souls from eternal hell and we don't. The shooters are killing people's bodies, but we by refusing to witness, are we damning souls to eternal hell? No wonder God punishes entire cities shooters and religious alike.
