Hey Slacker

The future is coming. We may be very comfortable with today, but tomorrow is coming, and the week after, and the month after that. At this moment, all may be well, habits may be in place, work steady, friends o plenty, but tomorrow is coming. In our easy culture, fast food at a moments notice, and instant information always at hand, we may think that tomorrow is going to shine like today. But life has peaks and valleys.

Today is spring, but spring is for more than just watching flowers bloom and enjoying naps in the sun. Instead of spending all your spring time planning your summer vacation maybe you should plant some seeds. You see if you do the work today, you can harvest tomorrow. No one just arrives at the point of “where is God when I need Him?” we got there through today, and going through the spring time without planting anything.

Proverbs 20:4 says that the slacker will not plow during the planting season so he is going to be hungry at harvest time. It is amazing how many Christians go through “dry” seasons, where they feel like God is not at work, has taken a break from answering prayers, or maybe doesn't exist. Has His Word ceased to exist in the meantime? No, our Bibles are in the last place that we left them, and all of our crops are in the shape we left them as well. If we have been plowing ground by doing good deeds, if we have been watering our lives with prayer, if we have been fertilizing with church attendance and Bible study, weeding our fields with the rebuke of Christian brothers, then we are well fed.

Further, can the promises of God fail? We are told that if we meditate day and night in the Word, we will, not might, we shall bring forth fruit in our season. Amazing. So here is the challenge, why not place as much time into the things of God as you do into your hobbies. If we throw anywhere near the amount of time towards the kingdom of God that we throw away, we would be utterly amazed with the results. The future is coming, your future is coming you will absolutely reap what you sow, start sowing today.
