Unbelievable 7,000 square feet of house located atop a mountain just outside of Goodlettesville. Seven bedrooms, five bathrooms, 30 foot ceilings, multiple exterior balconies, the pool is backdropped with a waterfall, and seventeen acres of privacy. The house has a huge fireplace with a 20 foot tree trunk stretched across two columns, nearly breathtaking. Not because of the beauty, but rather because of the mold.
The roof started to fail, water ruined the upper floor ceilings, and then proceeded to destroy all upper floor carpets. Next came the second floor ceilings and second floor carpets, eventually draining into the basement which is a cesspool. Now mold works its way from the basement upwards, destroying every hope this home ever offered. After this came the thieves who are stealing anything of value in the house, copper pipes, ac units, etc.... all because of a faulty roof? Could our spiritual lives fall apart from one small sin, leaking into every room of our lives? No sin, however cute nor deceptive is going to refrain from our ruin, because the wages of sin is death. Romans6:23.
Some think that Christians are too extreme in their avoidance of harmless looking sins. Who cares if you smoke a joint every now and again, even the police are letting us get away with it. The problem comes when sin over steps its bounds, and it always will. It just wishes to get invited in, and then it will strike. Recently, our culture has taken two steps that are completing each other in total and regular ruin. One we have embraced harmless marijuana, and the other we have cracked down on meth: almost like a double standard. Since meth is not as available, people are turning to alternatives, namely heroine. What make heroine dangerous is that just a small mismanagement of your dosage and you are dead, and guess what people are dying all over. They are not professionals, they are not chemists, they are not doctors, so they have no idea what they are doing, and are dying weekly. Were we wrong on cracking down on meth, no we were wrong for allowing the small easy drugs freedom. The sin of fun and carelessness has raised its ugly head and we find out it is neither.
